Becoming a member of Horncastle u3a is a fabulous way of meeting new people and of broadening your knowledge with interesting and sociable company.
Horncastle u3a membership allows people to attend the monthly meetings, special-interest groups, trips and other events. At just £15 a year it represents great value for money. (Non-members are not entitled to attend these events and will not be covered by u3a insurance for such events.)
Our members have a very wide range of backgrounds, experience and interests - you're bound to find someone who's on your wavelength!
Becoming a member of Horncastle u3a
Try it first - before joining our u3a you are able to come to the monthly meeting on two occasions (1st Tuesday of Month).
There is an online application form on this page - see 'How to become a member' below.
You can also download, print and complete a paper form - this can be brought to any monthly meeting or posted (details on form). See the link at the bottom of this page.
Either way, you'll then need to pay your annual subscription.
The subscription for April 2026 - March 2027 is £15. Payment may be made either via BACS, cheque or cash. (BACS is preferred, if at all possible, due to the imminent closure of the Lloyds bank branch in Horncastle.)
BACS details are Horncastle u3a : Sort Code 30-94-39 : Account Number 00-71-53-77. Please add your name as reference.
Once your completed form and payment have been received, you will be entitled to join any of our many groups. To do this you will need to contact the relevant group leader (contact details on the group web pages).
As a member you will be entitled to attend the monthly meeting, vote in the AGM, join any groups or clubs of not only Horncastle u3a but also neighbouring u3a groups (where there are vacancies, and their rules allow guests to attend).
Monthly meetings
Our general monthly meeting, on the first Tuesday of each month, is held at the Stanhope Hall, Boston Road, Horncastle, LN9 6NF at 10 am. There is nearly always a guest speaker covering a wide range of topics. We also have regular updates from the groups and information about upcoming trips and events. There is car parking at the hall and an access ramp.
Attendance is free, and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
At the door you will be welcomed by one of our receptionists, who will advise and guide you. We ask you to sign in and out at every meeting to comply with fire regulations.

How to become a member
If you'd like to join, please fill in and submit the form below. Once we've received your application, you'll receive an email with details on how to pay your subscription (£15 per annum, April - March).
If you join during or after October, the subscription is still the same - £15 - but we give you the following year free as an incentive to join part-way through the year.
If you are a taxpayer, it would greatly help us if you agree to Gift Aid - this lets us reclaim on your behalf a nominal amount of tax already paid. You need to be a UK taxpayer for this. (See Gift Aid guide - Gov UK for details.)
You can also download and print an application / Gift Aid form via the link lower down the page. This is useful if you know someone who'd like to join, but who doesn't use any online resources.
If you require further assistance please contact Mark Ogilvie (Membership Secretary) from the contact form.
